Presvytera Eleni Demetri shares Diane Zamiska Award with Protonica Kathy Babich.
The Diane Zamiska Award was presented to Presvytera Eleni Demetri and Protonica Kathy Babich in recognition of their work for International Orthodox Christian Charities (I.O.C.C.). The award, given by the Cleveland Metropolitan Committee for I.O.C.C. is named for the late Diane Zamiska. Diane was very involved in church organizations and, when I.O.C.C. came to Cleveland in 1992, she was ready and eager to help. She organized dinners and folk festivals to help raise money for this very worthy cause. The Diane Zamiska Award is given in honor of her spirit of volunteering and caring for those in need. Pictured above holding the Diane Zamiska Award, Presvytera Eleni (right) and Protonica Kathy (left) met in 1992 when they served as Co-Chair and Treasurer, respectively, of the Cleveland Metropolitan Committee for I.O.C.C. The ladies quickly became friends and, together, initiated the Biennial I.O.C.C. Fashion Show/Silent Auction & Luncheon. I.O.C.C. thanks them for their hard work in helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars toward their worldwide humanitarian efforts. Presvytera Eleni and Protonica Kathy enjoyed working together for I.O.C.C., organizing four Annual Banquets and two Fashion Show/Silent Auction & Luncheons as officers of the Metropolitan Committee. Both still serve on the Board of the Cleveland Metropolitan Committee and are currently organizing this year's Fashion Show/Silent Auction and Luncheon, which promises to be the best ever.
